Ski holidays Flattach - unlimited fun on the piste for the whole family!
Flattach
Flattach lies at the foot of the Mölltal Glacier at 696 metres above sea level in the heart of the scenic Carinthian Oberland. The Mölltal Glacier is Carinthia's only glacier ski area and therefore offers guaranteed snow from October to May. In the past, agriculture and forestry played a particularly important role in Flattach. However, with the construction of the Mölltal Express, which takes you to the Mölltal glacier ski area in just a few minutes, tourism has gained in importance in this tranquil winter sports resort. Despite this development, the cosy village has retained its family charm.Numerous rustic restaurants, pubs and, of course, ski huts line the village and invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Particularly popular is Carinthia's highest winter garden, the "Eissee" panorama restaurant at an altitude of 2,800 metres. The gigantic glass and steel construction towers above the eternal ice, so to speak, and reflects the mountain world from Schareck to Sonnblick and the Lienz Dolomites in its glass surfaces.
Mölltal Glacier
''100% Sun, Snow, and Ski fun!'' The formula for success at the Mölltaler Glacier and the Ankogel is as simple as it is comprehensible. The 3,122 m high Mölltaler Glacier is one of Austria's most snow-secure glacier ski areas. The southern side of the Alps is statistically proven as the sunniest region in Austria. The panorama views of about 30 3,000-meter high mountains of the Hohe Tauern is unique to Austria. Lovingly referred to as ''Mölli'' by fans, Carinthia's only glacier ski area draws skiers in starting in the end of September to power out on the finest powder. On the Mölltaler Glacier and the nearby Ankogel, you can expect to find 30 km of snow-sure pistes. Ankogel is just as challenging for aces and off-piste artists as well as for pleasure-carvers and boarders, who have long-since discovered the generous and broad pistes. The best thing about "Mölli" and Ankogel has to be that there are no waiting times for the ski lifts and no rushhours on the pistes. In both ski areas you'll experience typical Carinthian friendliness- a heart-warming combination of serenity and hospitality. Action and fun are also guaranteed with possibilities of ice skating or racing down the toboggan run. A real highlight after or instead of the sporting activities is visiting the "Tauern Bad" pool area.
