The mountain village of Hinterstoder is the idyllic centre of the Upper Austrian holiday region of Pyhrn-Priel. The village is located at an altitude of almost 600 metres in the Stodertal valley, approximately 140 kilometres east of Salzburg. Hinterstoder is well known as the venue for the Ski World Cup giant slalom and super-G races, but also as a relaxing holiday destination for winter sports enthusiasts of all kinds. On Hinterstoder's local mountain, the Hutterer Höss, family-friendly skiing fun awaits young and old alike with a World Cup downhill run and fun slopes. Against the snow-covered backdrop of the Totes Gebirge mountains, there are also a wide range of leisure activities to enjoy in the winter wonderland. Winter sports enthusiasts can get active in the extensive Stodertal valley with snowshoeing, tobogganing, ice skating and much more.

Traditions are cherished and cultivated in Hinterstoder, so in addition to the classic Christmas market during the cosy Advent season, there are also Rauhnächte, Perchtenläufe and Krampus parades. The local art gallery "Alpineum" hosts changing art exhibitions and regularly stages plays and concerts. Cosy inns, restaurants and cafés in the village invite you to stop for a bite to eat during and after a day of skiing.

Pyhrn-Priel

This beautiful holiday region in the southern part of Upper Austria, stretches across vast Alpine meadows and hills up to 2,000 m altitude, right up into the national park of the Limestone Alps - one of the largest forested areas in Austria. From the mountain peaks to the valley basins, which are formed by picturesque streams and rivers, Pyhrn-Priel turns into a glittery fairytale landscape in winter. Day-tours can easily be realised from the centrally located resorts Windischgarsten and Hinterstoder. Two attractive family ski areas, approx. 100 km of winter hiking trails, over 120 km of cross-country trails and magnificent views over the surrounding peaks of the Sengsen mountains and the Tote Gebirge (dead mountains) make this the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.
