Ski holidays Imst - Winter Fun for the Whole Family!

Imst

The town of Imst, located at an altitude of 827 metres, lies on the edge of the Lechtal Alps, where the Gurgltal and Inntal valleys meet. The charm of this historic town is not only due to its Gothic and Baroque buildings, but also to the numerous fountains scattered throughout the "town of fountains". They are reminders of the town's water-rich past and, with their holy figures, are often real eye-catchers.

Imst has also made a name for itself as a carnival stronghold: the Imster Schemenlauf has been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site since 2010, the first in Austria. However, the traditional, mystical carnival parade only takes place every three to four years – the next one will be on 13/02/2028.
In addition, Imst has developed into a popular shopping destination thanks to its numerous shops and boutiques. Tourism has also taken hold in both the summer and winter months. The Hoch-Imst ski area is particularly popular with families, thanks in part to its manageable size and children's facilities, such as free childcare.

District Imst

The district Imst lies in the federal state of Tyrol. The Oberinn Valley, Ötz Valley and Gurg Valley are some of the most popular holiday regions in this district, which is divided into 24 municipals. Both, in summer and winter, Imst has many outdoor activities to offer for all age groups. With the lift pass "Hoch-Imst", there are 9 km of piste open to explore. Those who need more extensive skiing terrain can venture into the neighbouring areas of the Ötztal, Pitztal Glacier and Zams. Besides skiing and snowboarding, there are further activities in and around Imst to enjoy. Climbers can even get some vertical sports done in winter. Many winter hiking trails provide for some magnificent views of the Tyrolean Alps. Romantic walks, sledge races or ice skating add to the perfect holiday feeling.
