In the heart of the Salzburg region, on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, lies the tranquil village of Kleinarl with only about 800 inhabitants at an altitude of 1,014 metres. Nestled in the Kleinarl Valley and situated on the Kleinarl stream, this small village is an outstanding holiday destination. In winter, the mountain and valley landscape, which is otherwise blooming in all colours, is transformed into a picturesque winter wonderland by a soft white blanket of snow, providing the perfect gateway to one of Europe's largest winter sports areas: Ski amadé. In order to exploit the full potential of the region for holidaymakers away from the slopes, the tourism associations of Kleinarl and the neighbouring village of Wagrain, less than ten minutes away, have joined forces to form a joint holiday region. Winter holidaymakers will find a wealth of diverse activities and excursion destinations that are suitable for everyone, whether families, couples or solo travellers.

The region is also influenced by the priest Joseph Mohr, who was the parish vicar of Wagrain around 1840, as he was the author of the world-famous Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night". This song is very important in the holiday region, and not only at Christmas time, when people stroll through the traditional Christmas markets and the traditional memorial singing and so-called Silent Night events take place in honour of Father Mohr.
