Ski holidays Schruns – Where nature is lived!
Schruns
The traditional village of Schruns (700 m) lies in the heart of the Montafon valley, right at the entrance to the Silbertal valley, beautifully nestled against the backdrop of the Verwall and Rätikon mountain ranges. This side valley, which has been shaped by mining, is home to the Mining Museum in Silbertal, six kilometres away, and one of the largest open-air stages in Europe with a performance area of 20,000 m². Together with the neighbouring village of Tschagguns, Schruns forms a small town with just over 6,000 inhabitants. Thanks to its location, it was one of the first summer resorts in Vorarlberg over 100 years ago and one of the most visited destinations in Austria. Located in the heart of the Montafon valley, the twin towns of Schruns-Tschagguns offer a variety of clubs, bars and restaurants, as well as Vorarlberg's largest leisure park, the Akivpark Montafon, with a daily entertainment programme and a wealth of sports facilities, including a large artificial ice rink with an ice hockey rink. There are two ski areas right on the outskirts of the town, including the World Cup-tested Golm near Tschagguns and the Hochjoch adventure area near Schruns with a Dreamland for children and a rental service for the latest trend sports equipment such as Skifox, Snowcycle and Airboard.Montafon
The 39 km long Alpine valley Montafon in Vorarlberg is mainly characterised by the small and traditional villages, and their very conscious interaction with the numerous natural monuments in this impressive mountain region. To maintain the natural surroundings and the local traditions, a club was founded called "bewusstmontafon" (conscious of Montafon) together with a brand logo, which labels all products originating from this region. The tranquil resorts in this traditional valley serve as hide-aways aside from the tourism hotspots, and besides many attractive ski areas, also provide a multitude of leisure time activities, such as winter and snowshoe hike, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating.Travel Schruns
