Ski holidays Thaur - winter fun near the big city!
Thaur
This idyllic village lies at an altitude of 633 metres, surrounded by unique mountain scenery at the foot of the Nordkette mountain range. Only ten kilometres separate the village from the centre of the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck. Thaur, where tradition is very important, is not only known for its nativity scene carvers, but is also considered "Tyrol's largest vegetable garden". With its cultural offerings, this cosy village stands out from the usual winter sports resorts. However, only ruins remain of the village's landmark, Thaur Castle. Nearby is a very beautiful ski area with mostly medium-difficulty runs on the Glungezer. After a strenuous day on the slopes, various restaurants and coffee houses in Thaur invite you to relax and linger.Ski Region Innsbruck
Tyrol's provincial capital lies directly on the Inn, surrounded by a breathtakingly beautiful mountain backdrop. Innsbruck offers the unique opportunity to spend the duration of your holiday in one of Europe's loveliest cities and yet still be almost directly in the ski are at the same time - an ideal holiday destination for all those who want to combine their skiing holiday with a little culture! As site of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics und 1976 and with a total of 308 km, the Olympia SkiWorld enjoys a first class international reputation. Next to the numerous sights in Innsbruck itself, the region also has a lot to offer. The pilgrimage church St. Peter and St. Paul in Götzens is a special feature with its architecture and acoustics. An alternative day-trip destination is the Ambras Castle, which lies above Innsbruck and is considered one of the most well-known sights in the provincial capital.Travel Thaur
