Ski holidays Auris – sunny family resort in the ski region Alpe d'Huez!
Auris
The family resort Auris lies at 1,600 m altitude in the picturesque mountain landscape of the Rhône Alps, in the middle of Europe's largest birch forest. The resort is through Col de Maronne linked to the famous ski area Alpe d‘Huez. The ski resort received its name, Auris-en-Oisans, because its location in the regionOisans. You can access to the popular glacier ski area Les 2 Alpes is in about 25 minutes by car and the resort Auris is about one hour by car from the university city of Grenoble. The original village with just a couple of hundreds of residents transformed itself in the 1960s in a small, but lively ski resort. The Auris-en-Oisans as it looks today, was thought especially for winter sports tourism, as the ski-in/ski-out resort lies ideally on the south mountainside and welcomes you with 300 sunny days per year. Because of the arrangement of the accommodations, lifts and restaurants, Auris permits you to have a ski holiday with short ways between them. Like in many resorts in France, most of the accommodations are located in the immediate vicinity of the piste.
The untouched places neighbouring Auris are Alpe d’Huez in the north and Les 2 Alpes in the south. There is from Auris a connecting lift in the ski area, which continues directly on the other side of Col de Maronne (1,697 m). If the weather permits it, you can see in the south the ski area Les 2 Alpes and far to La Meije (3.983 m), with its glacier.
Oisans
The region Oisans is located in the French high alpine country and offers the majestic peak Barre des Écrins (4,102 m), the most southern of the Alpine 4,000-er mountains. Further to the South, the Mediterranean Alps join into the massif and become gradually lower towards Cote d'Azur. The region includes the popular massifs of Belldonne, Écrins and Grandes Rousses. Cycling enthusiasts will know the region due to the Tour de France, as here are some of the most challenging legs, e.g. like the route to Alpe d'Huez. But also in winter the region Oisans is highly popular with holiday-makers. Powder snow and sunshine attract many visitors to this region during the winter months, as you will also find many renowned winter sports resorts here.Travel Auris
