Ski holidays Bad Lauterberg - culture, wellness and winter sports in the southern Harz!

Bad Lauterberg

The spa town of Bad Lauterberg is located in the wooded natural idyll of the southern Harz Mountains, surrounded by rolling hills. Known as a state-approved Kneipp spa, holistic cures are offered in the local spa centres and sanatoriums. A pretty spa park with mature trees, a music pavilion and a spa centre are just as much a part of the townscape as the quaint old town with its attractive shopping street. Numerous shops, bars, pubs and restaurants invite you to stroll, shop, celebrate and feel good.

Bad Lauterberg looks back on 800 years of history, which guests can learn about in the quaint local history museum. The Königshütte industrial monument with its historic foundry ensemble and the Südharzer Eisenhüttenmuseum (South Harz Ironworks Museum) is a reminder of the ore mining era in the region. Guided tours also take place here in winter! In the surrounding area, the Bad Grund moor spa with its healing caves and Herzberg Castle with its interesting museum are interesting excursion destinations.

Recreation seekers and active people such as cross-country skiing fans will find a cosy place on a winter holiday in Bad Lauterberg in a snow-covered winter landscape with around 72 km of cross-country trails and 18 km of winter hiking trails for long walks or cross-country skiing tours.

Harz

The Harz is the most Northern winter sport area in Germany and offers a diverse wildlife on a 2,200 km² big expanse. As soon as the first snow falls, winter sports fans find their way into this magnificent area, which is made possible by the Brocken (1,141 m), the highest mountain in Northern Germany. Especially in the villages around the National Park Harz, which was founded transnationally in 1995, attractive Alpine skiing, as well as cross-country skiing areas have developed. Cross-country tracks and pistes with varying degrees of difficulty, as well as toboggan runs and nature ice areas arrange for diverse recreational fun for the whole family. The dreamlike winter landscape can also be explored by way of one of the versatile winter hiking trails. Furthermore, numerous rustic restaurants invite you to enjoy a cosy evening with local specialities or international cuisine.
