Ski holidays Oberammergau - a marvellous view of the Zugspitze and pure tradition!

Oberammergau

Oberammergau lies at an altitude of 837 metres in the Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, just 20 kilometres from Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962 metres). The town, which has a population of around 5,300, is internationally renowned for the Passion Play, which takes place every 10 years. The traditional Lüftl paintings on the facades of the houses are also popular photo motifs, while the works of the regional wood carvers, who can be admired at work in many workshops, are sought-after souvenirs. Nestled in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park, Oberammergau offers visitors a delightful combination of culture and nature. And in winter in particular, the nearby Bavarian mountains invite you to go skiing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking.

Zugspitze

New Year's ski jumping, the Kandahar downhill run and international flair - you can experience all this and much more in the region around Germany's highest mountain! There are also special scenic features such as the Zugspitze itself and the Partnachklamm gorge. In the region, you can get to know ten different ski areas in two countries. The Zugspitzplatt is particularly snow-sure with numerous slopes directly below the Zugspitze. A ride on the Eibsee cable car, which takes pedestrians up to almost 2,950 metres, just below the highest point in Germany, allows you to enjoy a breathtaking panorama. For après-ski, you can meet up in the rustic ski huts or in the evening in the various bars, pubs, clubs and discos. Fun and thrills are also guaranteed with tobogganing and many other leisure activities in the holiday region.
