Winterberg

The internationally renowned winter sports resort of Winterberg is located at an altitude of around 668 metres in the north-east of the Rothaar Mountains. This lively little town in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is the perfect starting point for a short winter sports break. The many toboggan runs, some of which can be used into the evening thanks to floodlighting, undoubtedly offer fun for the whole family. With its endless hiking trails and impressive mountain scenery, Winterberg has something to offer for every taste.

Sauerland

Sauerland, in the south-east of North Rhine-Westphalia, is surrounded by the Lower Hesse mountain country, the edge of the Ostsauerländischen Gebirgsland, Wittgensteiner Land, Siegerland, and the Bergischen Land. As part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains, it's dominated by birch and spruce forests. Also known as the land of a thousand mountains, among Sauerland's highest mountains are Langenberg, Hegekopf, and the Kahle Asten, which contribute quite a bit to the region's winter sports. You may also take advantage of some of the countless cross-county trails and discover the breathtaking landscapes of these uplands. For those who prefer something a little more relaxed, a romantic sleigh ride through the snowy scenery is highly recommended. Floodlit facilities and toboggan runs for snow-tubes provide that extra bit of fun for the whole family.
