Ski holidays Maso Corto – Small but mighty!
Maso Corto
At one time, the largest farm of the region was once located here at the end of the Val Senales. However, that has changed a bit since then. In midst of the huge mountain massif with a number of 3,000 m peaks there is now a modern ski station which easily combines functionality and Tyrolean cosiness. Maso Corto (German: "Kurzras") maybe small, however that does not mean that is doesn't offer the amenities required for a relaxing holiday. But winter sports fans not only come here due to the good infrastructure. It is rather the ski area that attracts them, which is accessible via chair lift or gondola directly from Maso Corto. The ski areas at the Schnalstaler Glacier offers skiing from October until May - which extends the regular season considerably. The leisure time offers away from the pistes however, are also worth mentioning - never mind if it be sporty and active or culturally based.
Val Senales
The 22 km long Val Senales (Schnals Valley) is the most touristically developed side valley of the South Tyrolean Vinschgau Valley. Particularly noteworthy is the diversity of the landscape, which can be found here in a very small area – from the vineyards at the southern entrance to the valley to the glittering ice of the glacier at the end of the valley. The valley is traversed by the Schnalser Bach stream, which is dammed in the upper part of the valley to form the Vernagt reservoir. The region is not only known for its glacier ski area, which, with its 42 kilometres of well-groomed pistes, is no longer an insider tip. It made headlines in September 1991 when a German couple discovered the mummy of Ötzi above the valley, on the Tisenjoch. The "ArcheoParc Schnals" archaeological museum is dedicated to the life and circumstances of the "Iceman".Travel Maso Corto
