Ski holidays Malles Venosta – sunny cultural centre of the Upper Vinschgau!

Malles Venosta

Impressive medieval buildings such as mighty fortifications and the highest Benedictine abbey in Europe, surrounded by the legendary natural landscape of the Upper Vinschgau Valley: welcome to Mals (Italian: Malles), one of the most picturesque municipalities in South Tyrol with around 5,300 inhabitants. The village centre is located at an altitude of around 1,051 metres and is the main town in the idyllic holiday region of Vinschgau. The townscape is characterised by interesting church towers from different eras, which is why Mals used to be called "the seven towers". Although only five of the seven church towers remain, the historic centre will delight those interested in culture.
The leisure activities in the Mals area are just as rich as the culture. The options range from hiking trails, e.g. to the Spitzige Lun (2,324 m), to great cross-country trails in the renowned Nordic Centre Schlinig, to the family-friendly slopes in the ski area on the Watles adventure mountain (2,557 m). Mals is also the terminus of the Vinschgau Railway, which provides perfect connections through the valley and takes you via Schluderns and Naturns to Merano and Bolzano.

Ortles Region

Amidst the national park of Stilfserjoch, framed by 14 peaks, each above an altitude of 3,000, lies the Ortler region. Its named after the 3,905 m high, most well-known glacier in the eastern Alps. The grandiose landscape surrounding the Ortler captivates both visitors of winter and summer. Around the Ortler, you can experience pure skiing fun from November - May, including the impressive panoramic view of the Ortler, Cevedale, and the Königsspitze.
