Ski holidays Moos in Passeier - A winter jewel in the Merano region!
Moos in Passeier
Moos in Passeier is a picturesque South Tyrolean village at an altitude of 1,007 metres, just a few kilometres from the Austrian border. Located in the heart of the Merano region, it is a real gem for winter sports enthusiasts and culture lovers. The almost 800-year-old village with its approximately 2,000 inhabitants is characterised mainly by its friendly and cosy atmosphere. Otherwise, the Stubai Alps offer an impressive mountain backdrop around Moos, which also fascinates with its deep-rooted history.During the Napoleonic Wars in 1809, the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer led the resistance against the Bavarian and French troops from here. Today, all the background information is documented for visitors in the "MuseumPasseier" dedicated to Hofer. In Moos in Passeier, in addition to the 14th-century St. Martin's Church, which is known for its Gothic frescoes, there is also the Stieber Waterfall on the outskirts of the village. Another highlight is the traditional Christmas market, which takes place every year during the Christmas season in St. Leonhard, the main town of the Passeier Valley, 7 km away.
In addition to its rich history, Moos in Passeier is also a winter sports paradise. Skiers and snowboarders can let off steam on the slopes of the Pfelders ski area, where cross-country skiers will also find many kilometres of trails. But many other excellent South Tyrolean ski areas are not far away either.
