Ski holidays Rio di Pusteria – Historic toll town between Val d'Isarco and Alta Pusteria!
Rio di Pusteria
The village of Mühlbach is located just a few kilometres north of Brixen at the entrance to the Pustertal Valley. Due to its location, the municipal area extends from 695 m to 3,132 m above sea level, with the picturesque village centre at 772 m above sea level. Above the centre, the districts of Meransen, Vals and Spinges lie on pretty low mountain terraces. From Mühlbach you can easily reach Meransen by cable car.The market town has existed since the 13th century, as old walls and former residences impressively attest. The most impressive building is the Mühlbacher Klause, an old fortress and customs station that still functions as a dam today. Thanks to Mühlbach's favourable location on the Brixen motorway and a car tunnel, there is no through traffic in the village, so those seeking peace and quiet will find a relaxing idyll here.
The village, steeped in history, is surrounded by wide alpine pastures, gently sloping mountainsides and dense forests, while the glaciers of the Zillertal Alps glisten in the distance. Thanks to the many hours of sunshine and abundant snowfall, a wide variety of winter sports are possible: tobogganing, ice skating, winter hiking, ski touring, snowshoeing and of course skiing and snowboarding in the Gitschberg-Jochtal lift network.
Valle Isarco
The Valle Isarco lies in the heart of South Tyrol and stretches from Brennero to the mouth of the Adige near Bolzano. Dominated by the River Isarco, the valley impresses with its varied landscape at any time of year. In winter, 95 kilometres of pistes of varying degrees of difficulty invite you to ski. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there is something for everyone here. The beautiful wide pistes are very suitable for families with children. Thanks to its special location, the region is considered to be very sunny and snow-sure. There are also many opportunities to spend a varied day away from the piste.Travel Rio di Pusteria
