Ski holidays Saas-Almagell - the lovely family resort!
Saas-Almagell
Even the journey through the Saas Valley with its deep gorges and steep mountain slopes is impressive. The southernmost municipality in the Saas Valley is the idyllic family resort of Saas-Almagell, which has retained the character of a typical Valais mountain village to this day. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,672 metres, the municipality boasts excellent snow conditions. You can access the Saas-Almagell ski area with 15 kilometres of slopes directly from the village. From nearby Saas-Fee, various gondolas provide direct access to the glacier ski area. At 3,500 metres, the Mittelallalin is home to the "Allalin", the highest revolving restaurant in the world, offering fantastic views of the mountain panorama. One floor below is the entrance to the 5,000 m² ice pavilion, which offers fascinating insights into the world of the millennia-old Fee Glacier at a constant temperature of -1°C. After skiing, Saas-Almagell offers a wide range of options: open-air bars with deckchairs near the slopes, cosy traditional restaurants in the village centre and a lively nightlife.
Saastal
Framed by 18 four-thousand-metre peaks, the panorama of the Saas Valley is absolutely stunning! The lifts reach up to 3,573 m and open up a panorama of pistes with 146 km of all levels of difficulty. The famous "Metro Alpin", the highest underground funicular in the world, takes you under the glacier to the Mittelallalin, where a magnificent mountain backdrop awaits you. The ski area is also extremely attractive for international guests, as the Allalin Race, for example, takes place here. It is held at the end of the season and is the longest downhill race in the world, from 3,573 m down to the village at 1,800 m!The four villages at the foot of the pistes are well connected by bus so that you can make the most of your ski day. Each village has its own flair: there are family-friendly and down-to-earth villages with cosy Valais chalet-style houses, or villages characterised by lively après-ski. You will find variety here in any case!
