Ried im Oberinntal is idyllically situated at an altitude of 876 m, surrounded by the mountains of the Ötztal Alps and the Samnaun Group. Its convenient location makes this village, with its approximately 1,300 inhabitants, an ideal starting point for excursions to several ski areas and also to the provincial capital of Innsbruck, only 90 km away. Ried and the surrounding area offer a wide range of leisure activities such as snowshoeing, tobogganing, ice skating, curling, cross-country skiing, ice climbing and paragliding. For culture lovers, Ried is home to Siegmundsried Castle and several chapels and churches, including the particularly beautiful Baroque parish church of St. Leonhard. As the village is only a stone's throw away from the entrance to the Kaunertal valley, those seeking relaxation can visit the Kaunertal Centre. Ried is connected to Fendels by a breathtaking cable car over the Fendler Bach gorge.
