Ski area Sölden

The "Ötztaler Superskipass" allows you to switch between the ski areas of Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, Hochoetz-Kühtai, Niederthai, Gries and Vent with just one lift pass (see ski region).

With 2 days lift passes, the lift pass "Sölden" applies, giving you access to 144 km of first-class piste at 1,350 m - 3,340 m, connected by over 31 modern lifts. Well-known due to its glacier ski areas, Rettenbach and Tiefenbach, which along with their three peaks Tiefenbachkogl (3,309 m), Innere Schwarze Schneid (3,370 m) and Gaislachkogl (3,058 m) are used year-round by national ski teams and "normal" ski fans alike. Beginners will get their money's worth in on the Innerwald and the Giggijoch whereas experts will hve access to numerous blue and red pistes throughout the entire ski area. Pros can head over to the Gaislachkogl to take on the more demanding pistes.

In winter, Sölden's ski area is among one of the best in the Alps. As Austria's only glacier ski area, three 3,000 m mountains are perfectly connected with lifts. The newest feature is the gondola on the far side of Rettenbach, which speeds up the "Golden Gate to the Glacier" - the connection between Giggijoch and the glacial ski area. Newest facilities include the shuttle connection between the centre and the Innerwald lifts, as well as a new gondola at the Gaislachkogel. Furthermore, the Giggijoch lift started operation in the 2016/2017 winter season, taking approx. 4,500 winter sports fans per hour into the heart of the Sölden ski area. Because of this, the Giggijoch lift has the highest transportation capacity in the world.

The Ice Q-Restaurant & Lounge at the Gaislachkogel valley station was voted as one of the best mountain restaurants, and invites all demanding gourmets to turn in. The purist glass building on over 3,000 m has a fantastic view of the surrounding mountain landscape and the Big 3. The upper class cuisine offers alpine specialities and selected wines, as well as a romantic "Summit Dinner" once per week. Make yourself comfortable in sheepskin slippers and have a glass of champagne in the lounge. A freely swinging hanging bridge leads you to the connected observation point which gives you a wonderful view on the Big 3.

A special highlight in this ski area are the many free Wi-Fi hotspots it offers for all its visitors! Not only that, but all cable cars for the Giggijoch lift provide Wi-Fi as well. Only a few easy steps are required to access the Internet and you can instantly supply your friends and family with your holiday news and photos.

Not to be missed is the "BIG 3 - Rallye" - check out the entire ski area, including the BIG 3 peaks (Gaislachkogl, Tiefenbachkogl, Schwarze Schneid)- a truly unique experience, breathtaking views included!

The boarder scene is found in the snow park on Giggijoch, which, with half-pipe, boarder cross, kickers, tubes, jibs and rails leave no wish unfulfilled. Additionally, the Oetz Valley region is a true free ride paradise with over 70 km of off-piste variations and tons of powder snow. The descents, with up to 2,000 m difference in altitude, are a welcome thrill for every free rider and offer a tons of fun.

Night skiing Sölden

Numerous night ski areas in Austrias make it possible to extend your skiing day over the regular lifts' operation hours and go night skiing. In Sölden, night skiing is possible on the approx. 4 km night ski piste. The illuminated piste No. 10 goes from the Gaislachkogelbahn lift's middle station down to the valley. Also, from January to the middle of March there is once per week a Night Ski Show at the lift's middle station. There, you can not only enjoy night skiing, but also live performances on the local show stage, ski acrobatics and fireworks.

Après ski Sölden

A good tan from a day on the slopes, laid-back atmosphere, great music - welcome to the après ski capital of Tyrol! The most famous address for a drink is "Philipp", the notorious ski hut a few metres above Sölden. After 5:00 p.m. the parties get going in Sölden as well. Meet up with old friends (or make new ones) at the Umbrella bar, have a drink in "Fire & Ice", or party in "Marco's" or "Katapult" until the early hours of the morning.

Those who want to spend a quieter evening can do so comfortably in Sölden's comfy cafés and restaurants. From rustic-cosy to chic, from traditional to international, there is something to suit every taste. Relax after a strenuous day skiing in the Freizeit Arena spa area or in Längenfeld's Aqua Dome thermal world.

Snowpark: AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden

At the Giggijoch, directly below the chair lifts Hainbachkar and Silberbrünnl, lays the freestyle pearl of the Ötztal, the "AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden" Park designer Tomek Zwolak and his crew go over the 6 ha large area daily to reshape the obstacles to meet the highest requirements. This park, located at 2,450 m altitude, leaves no wishes unfulfilled.

Here, beginners and pros alike can test themselves on 3 different levels of difficulty. A number of kickers, tubes, rails and boxes provide enough diversity. The cherry on the freestyler cake is made up of various jibs, e.g. the jib can or the 12 m elephant box, where riders can show of their creativity at top level.

Further to the snow park, there is also a 650 m long fun slope in Sölden. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or an advanced skier, on the fun slope you'll have what the name says: fun! While skiing through waves and kicks you can admire the wonderful panorama.

To wind down and relax there is a chill area with the respective sound system. All those who love what the do in the freestyle scene and want to get together with others who feel the same, are absolutely right here in the "AREA 47 Snowpark Sölden".
